This image search is where Abbruzzini all started. Always looking for new styles to adopt into my wardrobe, I spent countless hours looking for unique items. I quickly realized that the market for men’s fashion, specifically shoes is oversaturated with brands that all just offer the same thing.

Unable to find footwear that could stand out on all occasions, I decided to pursue a childhood dream of becoming a shoe designer. However, having no previous experience or education in fashion or footwear, this goal was looking to be nearly impossible. But I didn't let this stop me from pursuing my dream. Instead, I enrolled in night classes at a local art college. I started by studying product design and eventually worked my way up into courses related to shoe design. It was here that I learned how to create a pair of shoes by hand using traditional techniques. Developing a physical sample of one of my designs was astonishing, and creating it by hand myself still to this day is unbelievable to me. Sharing what I created with friends and family, I found a lot of support and encouragement to take this idea to the next level.

After listening to every podcast on how to start a business, and convincing myself to just go for it, I spent all my free time researching footwear manufacturing and the overall industry.  I ended up spending several months looking for a manufacturing partner just to be denied every time due to not being an established company. After what felt like a million no’s I eventually found a manufacturing partner in Portugal that was willing to take on my business. Within just a few weeks and one Skype call later, I was on a flight to Portugal visiting the factory. This trip ended up opening the opportunity for me to manufacture my designs on a professional scale.
